On March 31st, Cheverus Catholic School was awarded a $70,000 grant from the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation for technology.
The presentation of the check took place in Cheverus’ new library. C. Henry Kezer, Chairman of the Board of the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation, presented the check to Cheverus Principal Thomas Arria. Among those in attendance were Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation trustee Rick Burns, Father Mark DeAngelis of Sacred Hearts Parish, Cheverus parent and board member Mark Ziobro, Assistant Principal Jeff Lane, grade 8 teacher Marybeth Mineo, and members of the student council and student body.
Thanks to the generous donation Cheverus Catholic School will receive a significant technology upgrade bringing Microsoft’s multipoint solution to a brand new computer lab and learning center. Microsoft Multipoint and its related technologies are the recognized industry standard for computer-based learning tools. In total, the upgrade will include 25 student-learning stations. Twenty stations will be placed in the third floor lab, and five additional stations in the newly renovated library. The solution being installed is designed to provide a fully-functional learning environment at a 67-percent reduced total cost of ownership. In addition, all classrooms will receive much-needed technology upgrades, placing Cheverus Catholic School on the cutting edge, providing students and teachers with the best and most current learning tools.
As part of its mission, Cheverus Catholic School will provide its students with the most up-to-date technology. The school believes technology is an indispensable tool to be used by students in all subject areas.
Principal Arria said of the new lab, “While we take particular pride in offering a quality traditional education within a safe, structured environment, we acknowledge the importance that technology plays in the future of our students.”
Cheverus is a diverse preschool through grade 8 Catholic School located in Malden. They are currently accepting new students.
